In Japan, today is Shichi-go-san, or "seven-three-five," a festival honoring children aged three, five, and seven. Prayers are offered now for the long life of the children. They are given bags of candy decorated with cranes and turtles, which symbolize longevity. You are likely older than seven now, but you can still create a long and happy life for yourself. Buy your favorite type of candy for dessert tonight. Decorate with images and words for turtle and crane. At dinner, toast seven times to turtle and crane. Before dessert, chant these six lines three times:

Sacred turtle
And honored crane,
I ask for a long, rich life.
Happiness shall not wane.
My life will be strife free,
Thanks to you.
