New Moons are effective as a way of closing the business of the last month and opening the business of the new month. As a monthly time between times, it's fitting to petition gods that are dark archetypes or between-time gods. Thresholds and windows are of particular importance: sweep them out as a symbol of "sweeping out the old" in your home. One ritual you can perform honors the Roman god of the past and future. The Roman god Janus is portrayed as two faces positioned in opposite directions; he appears on coins and other pieces of iconography. He helps end stagnation and bring vitality. To make sure that old business is out and new business is in, stand in a doorway (make sure the neighbors don't see) with a key in your hand:

The door shuts behind me.
The door opens before me.
Janus, the old chance is done.
Janus, the new chance comes.

Tap the key twice each on the threshold and the lintel, then go about your day. If endeavors go well, leave a plate of bread out on your stove as an offering, and then bury it outside the next day.
