Yom Kippur

Today is Yom Kippur, a traditional Jewish holiday meaning "Day of Atonement." At this time, Jews seek God's forgiveness for their sins; wrongs against other people are supposed to be repaired prior to this holiday. They also fast and refrain from doing any work. It is customary to wear white clothes, symbolizing purity. Paganism does not have a concept of "sin," but does offer behavioral guidelines. So today is a good time to consider your relationship to the gods and to other people. Have you broken any important rules? Have you harmed anyone (including yourself) during the past year? If so, what could you do to reconcile these wrongs? You may also want to perform some kind of purification ceremony. One good option is taking a bath with sea salt or other bath salts. Light some white candles in the bathroom and visualize all impurities washing away from you.
