Faerie Magic at Dusk

Color of the day:  Black
Incense of the day:  Magnolia

It's long been said that dawn and dusk are the times of Fey. Indeed, these two times of day are the 'tween . . . the midway points between day and night. Ever wonder why your pets are more active at that time? Dawn and dusk are the thresholds between "this" and "that," and are both enigmatic and mystical as a result. Tonight at dusk, steep a cup of thyme tea, grab a jar with milk and honey mixed together, and take yourself to a lush spot in nature. Lie on the ground and smile; feel what it's like to be a child. If you're daring, smear yourself with dirt and build little figures out of grass, branches, and leaves. Get creative and forget the worries of the day. By doing this, you are invoking the Innocent Self: something that the faerie realm values in high esteem. (In fact, the Feri Tradition of Witchcraft calls this venerated part of Self the "Black Heart of Innocence.") Anoint yourself with the thyme tea. Splash it around, drink it, and be merry. When you're ready to settle down, sit with your back against a tree (make sure you're surrounded in nature, away from traffic-human or vehicular!). Grin, and blur your vision. See what you see! Communicate to the wee folk in whatever way you deem fit. Alter your consciousness and suspend rationality. Open yourself to vision- who knows what you'll see? Keep in mind that visions and faerie sight do not strictly appear through the vision of the eyes, but through that of the third eye! When you're done playing with the Fey, bow to the area and leave your offerings of milk and honey, asking them to be kind to you and yours. Tell them your desires, wishes, and dreams. Return and repeat this working at dawn or dusk on any day the Fey beckon you to their terrain!
