Festival of Epona: Goddess of Horses

Color of the day:  Black
Incense of the day:  Ginger

Epona became known throughout the ancient world after she was adopted by the Roman cavalry.
Horses, of course a chief part of war strategies then, are known for their nobility, strength, grace, and power. Each of these characteristics provides keys to happiness, and it is with this in mind that we surround ourselves today with Epona's mantle.
Also a goddess of fertility, worship of Epona brings possibilities for new life. To celebrate her, bring together an apple, some nuts, pine or cedar incense, cider, water, and salt. Purify with water and salt, then salt the apple, light incense, and raise a glass to the Great Mare, saying, "Epona Reginae!" to call her Queen. Pray to her for your journeys in this life, for safe passage to the other world, for travels near and far, and for fruitful new beginnings.
