Solitary Tea Ceremony

Color of the day:  Indigo
Incense of the day:  Patchouli

A Japanese tea ceremony, from start to finish, is a meditation on simplicity and present moment awareness. Perform a simplified tea ceremony with just one guest: you.
Before you begin, focus on your breath. Feel your weight on the floor. Listen to the sounds around you. Really be present. Then continue to breathe consciously as you brew yourself a cup of your favorite tea. Lovingly choose a cup, attentively appreciate the rising steam, and notice the subtle botanical scent.
When it's prepared to your liking, sit comfortably and drink, paying close attention to the taste in your mouth and the warm feeling in your throat and belly. When you notice your mind wandering, just smile to yourself and come back to the moment. And whenever anything arises, internally or externally, say "yes" to it. Love and embrace yourself-and all your actions, thoughts, strengths, and challenges-exactly as you are.
