Midwinter Spell for Focus

Color of the day:  Brown
Incense of the day:  Sage

To take advantage of the quiet, dormant energy of winter, we need to tap into our inner depths and possibly kindle some heat and light there. For those who live in dark or cold climates in winter, depression and restlessness can set in. Maybe you're already exercising and getting outside to combat these effects, but a spell can help generate some focused energy.
Do this working at noon, when the sun is at its zenith. Even if it is not sunny out, look upward in the sky and try to sense the sun's position directly overhead. Close your eyes and imagine the heat and light of the sun on your face. Let that warmth and power flow over your face and down your body. Visualize yourself outdoors in summer doing the same thing and feeling the sun's intensity. Wrap your arms around yourself to "hold in" the sun's energy, and draw upon this when you feel the gloominess of winter setting in.
