Algiz Spell

Color of the day:  Maroon
Incense of the day:  Ginger

The Nordic rune Algiz, a trident-shaped rune, is a warding and protective sign. It is also related to the plant world, as it may refer to elk sedge, which in the Anglo-Saxon Rune poem suggests that it is a plant that knows how to defend against intrusion. The Algiz rune can be drawn magically in the air to set a boundary or ward.

Ground and center; deepen into your magical state of mind. Begin in the east with the rising sun and begin to trace Algiz in the air while making the sound zzz and beholding the rune shining in flame or light. Move in a direction you find affirming of the creation of these wards and face the other directions to make a full circle. Do not forget to inscribe the rune above and below you as well. Earth the power.
