A Third-Eye Anointing for Visionary Slumber

Color of the day:  Turquoise
Incense of the day:  Mulberry

The term tilak or tilaka refers to the holy marks worn by swamis and other members of Hinduism and related Eastern paths. Many adherents wear these markings on the third eye (brow) following meditation, yoga, and worship in the home and temple. These markings vary depending on one's sect and are often created by the use of vibhuti ash, kumkum, chandan (sandalwood) paste, and a variety of other powders. The modern bejeweled bindi sticker is related, being worn on the third eye (ajna chakra) of Indian brides-and often as everyday fashion!

To inspire visionary dreams, try a variation of tilak before sleep. After performing your own meditation and spiritual worship, anoint your third eye with any of the aforementioned substances or with a powdered herb such as turmeric, lavender, sage, saffron, or even powdered rice.

As you drift off to sleep, repeat this spell verbally and mentally:

Mystic spirits, sleeping mind, grant me vision unconfined.
