Bonding with a Divinatory Tool

Color of the day:  Lavender
Incense of the day:  Lily

In order for a divinatory tool (tarot, pendulum, ogham, or others) to work effectively, it must work with you. This means that you and the tool must get to know each other. You must spend time together, bonding.

Begin by cleansing your new tool. A four-element cleanse works well: sprinkle the tool with charged saltwater (earth and water) and pass it through the smoke from a candle (air and fire). Be sure to cleanse yourself, too.

Once the tool is cleansed, hold it close to you, repeating:

"Working together, each in turn,
Future paths may we discern."

For the next week, keep the tool with you at all times. At night, sleep with the tool next to you or under your pillow. Once the week ends, find a sheltered place for it in your sanctum.
