A Bittersweet Protection Charm

Bittersweet isn't just an attractive fall decoration, it's also a powerful protective herb. But to be effective, it must be hidden. Here is a protection charm you can make for your home.

You'll need a six-inch square of blue fabric, three bittersweet berries, a pinch each of nutmeg and cinnamon, and some garden twine. Lay the fabric flat. In the center of the square, place all the herbal ingredients. Bring the corners of the fabric together and tie securely with the garden twine. Leave the ends of the twine long enough so you can make a loop to hang the charm with.

Hang your charm bag in a closet, attic, or cellar, or place one under your bed. If you can, make more than one. After you've placed your charm bags, charge them by saying:

"Sacred herbs, protect my family and home.
Dark spirits, retreat, leave us alone."
