LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

A Commitment Spell

Color of the day:  Rose
Incense of the day:  Alder

You don’t have to commit to another person to work this spell, although if you’re in a relationship and want to take it to the next level, it will strengthen your bond. This is a spell to work when you want to pledge yourself to a person, a project, or even just some new-school-year selfdiscipline. You’ll need a white candle in a holder, something to light it with, and a cabbage leaf.

As you light the candle, say:
By candlelight my work begins,
I’ll see it through until the end.
And by my soul I will not quit,
I’ll work hard and make the best of it.

Pinch out the candle and wrap it in the cabbage leaf. Repeat this spell nightly until the cabbage leaf becomes too decayed to use, then put the leaf outside to disintegrate or blow away or whatever the leaf wants to do. It doesn’t matter where you put it as long as it’s out in the elements (as opposed to throwing it away). Keep the candle safe until you need it for your next commitment spell.
