POSTED UNDER Wind

A Fireside Divination

Color of the day:  Black
Incense of the day:  Pine

As the wind howls through the trees and rattles the storm door, a November night is a good time to settle in and divine by the fire. If you don’t have a fireplace, a candle flame or a small fire in your cauldron are fine substitutes. Safely light your fire. Sit before it, think of a question, then speak these words into the fire:

I sit before the fire watching the flames, I watch the sparks and the smoke as it rises. I’ll gaze for letters, symbols, or names, So shall my fate be revealed in many disguises.

You might see only symbols, faces, or words, or you might see an entire image. When done, if you used a candle, safely snuff it out. You may use the candle again for scrying. If you built a fire, watch it as it goes out on its own. Some people continue to gaze into the dying embers.
