New Moon Eclipse Cleansing Rite

Color of the day:  Brown
Incense of the day:  Pine

The new moon represents endings and beginnings, and an eclipse of the sun is the perfect time to remove undesirable influences from your life. Prior to this astronomical event, physically clean your home. Next, open windows and doors to release unwanted energies. Smoke-cleanse your home using dry juniper boughs, sage, or hazel wands, being careful to catch any sparks or ashes in a safe, fireproof container. Walk widdershins (counterclockwise) around the space while chanting:

I remove, banish, vanquish,
and cleanse any baneful
conditions from this locale!

After smoke-clearing, walk around widdershins once again while ringing a bell, speaking the same words of power.

Finally, place iron railroad spikes or long, thick steel nails in the corners of the area, with their points facing inward toward the main part of the room. Iron is used in folk magick and Conjure traditions to ward away harmful entities. Close all the windows and doors, carefully extinguish the burning herbs in a safe container, and state:

As I will it.

If the solar eclipse is visible in your area, poke a round hole in a sheet of paper and hold it above another sheet of paper, outdoors, to capture the effect of the moon occluding the sun. Later, use that paper in written spellwork to banish any further unwanted conditions.
