House Spirit Blessing

Color of the day:  Black
Incense of the day:  Cedar

Many people believe that their home has a spirit of its own. This might be an actual being or just a general feeling. You can honor your home's spirit by making a special incense dedicated to them.

If you have houseplants, trim off some of the dead bits and chop them into small pieces so you have about a tablespoon of them. Place them in a bowl. Next, find a dusty surface and run your finger along it. Add this dust to the bowl. If you have an outdoor area, take a pinch of dirt from the ground and add it. Think about adding some other things that have been sitting around your house for some time gathering energy, like an old cobweb or a bit of plaster from the walls. Things like these contain the energy of the house spirit. Mix these findings with a tablespoon of frankincense, which is often considered a sacred resin for blessing, and burn this mixture on a charcoal disk.

While the smoke billows from the charcoal, walk from room to room, using the smoke to welcome and acknowledge your house spirit.
