Remembering Resistance

Color of the day:  Yellow
Incense of the day:  Frankincense

When I was growing up, Hanukkah was one of the bigger holidays that my family celebrated, and it was also one of my favorites. At a basic level, it is a celebration of resistance and persistence, and today, as the first night of Hanukkah, I invite you to utilize that symbolism in your magic by lighting a single candle in a dark room. The light of the flame represents both resistance against the dark and the persistence to shine bright no matter what may come your way. Sit in the room with your candle and reflect on this past year. Were there any instances where you had to stand up for your rights? Or were there times when you had more endurance to face a challenge than you thought you did? Take some time to focus on the flame and connect with the energy of those experiences, and use those as motivation to keep persisting. You can either let the candle burn out completely or burn it a little each day until it's gone.
