Color of the day: Black Incense of the day: Geranium Doorways are portals. They face one type of space and open into another, sometimes unknown place. They are a good analogy to work with today, as it is Transgender Day of Visibility. This day celebrates and honors trans people, some of whom have lived a part of their lives behind closed doors. This is a day to celebrate and honor their history, accomplishments, triumphs, and achievements. The Yoruba people of West Africa (primarily Nigeria) who are on the path of Ifa have long honored and engaged Erinle, a warrior healer orisha who is patron to trans people. This orisha is associated with the sea, rivers, and forests. Share this spell with someone who might appreciate it. Lay river pebbles so that they lead to a significant door. Then at the doorway, lay a felled branch atop a turquoise-colored cloth. Next to the branch, set out a golden bowl that contains Swedish Fish (the chewy candy) and a few cowrie shells. As you work, chant: Erinle, I welcome your energy today and all days. I appreciate your gift of the freedom to be myself. Ashe! |
