Author Of 365 Days of Hoodoo

An Interview with Stephanie Rose Bird

1. Your new book is 365 Days of Hoodoo. What inspired you to write this book?

I love Hoodoo and thought that if I wrote a book where people could learn more and more about it each day, they would come to appreciate and practice Hoodoo, as well.

2. How exactly do you define Hoodoo?

Hoodoo is a collection of magickal and spiritual folkloric practices.

3. Do you need previous experience working with Hoodoo or conjure magic to work with 365 Days of Hoodoo?

Absolutely not! Everyone, from beginners to practitioners, will benefit from using the book to enrich their practice.

4. The book is structured to provide a full year of Hoodoo magic. Do readers need to proceed through the book in order? Or can it be picked up at any time throughout the year?

The book is designed to deepen the practice and understanding of Hoodoo over a year period. It is my hope that readers will use it in the manner in which it is designed for full effect. However, readers always have the choice of using the book how they wish.

5. What do you hope readers will take away from 365 Days of Hoodoo?

I see this comprehensive overview of Hoodoo to be a year-long apprenticeship. I hope after reading, working through, and contemplating its lessons, the reader will either become a Hoodoo, deepen their existing practice, or come to appreciate this magickal and spiritual path.
