More accurately, archetypal female energy. Based on the idea that only the ultimate divine source (i.e., God) is totally unified, the nature of energy is divided into two parts, represented by male and female. In most Western traditions, archetypal female energy is said to be receptive, nurturing, and creative. It is also known as magnetic, negative (in the sense of the negative pole of a magnet), and the Chinese Yin. In some Eastern traditions, such as Tantra, female energy is seen to be active and outgoing.
