As winter loses its grip, it's time to do a little psychic house cleaning. You'll need one candle in a color that appeals to you. Be sure it will fit in a secure holder you can carry. You'll also need ¼ teaspoon salt, a broom, and a dustpan. First place the candle in the holder. Carefully light it. Begin at the inside of your front door. Carry the candle safely around your home. If you have areas that are hard to reach, such as a basement or attic, simply pause near the entrance to that area and move on. As you go around your home, say:

Candle, as you illuminate each room,
Chase away sadness and gloom.

Then stop where you started. Safely extinguish the candle. Keep it for decoration or other positive magic. End by sprinkling the salt along your front threshold as you say:

Along this threshold I sprinkle salt.
At this barrier all evil will halt.

The next day, sweep the salt into a dustpan and throw it away.
