Spell: Spell for Embarking on a New Study

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

This is the season we associate with "back to school," and it's a perfect time to begin a new course of magical study. You may decide to read up on a new subject (such as herbalism or tarot) or learn a new magic-related skill (like calligraphy or drumming).
Gather the tools of your new discipline(books, materials, instruments, etc.) and place them on or near your altar. Today, a Tuesday, is aligned with the god Mars, a deity associated with fire, passion, initiative, and war. The passion of Mars can be used for positive energy, especially in matters where courage and passion come into play. Light a candle and do a blessing, invoking the names of gods associated with fire energy: Mars, Ares, Vulcan, Apollo (a solar god). Invoke their names to bless your new study venture. For example, you might say:

"Gods of fire: Mars, Ares, Vulcan, Apollo! Awaken in me the heat of intelligence, passion, and will. Light the flames of inspiration and courage within me. So mote it be!"
