LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Spell: Jar of Potential

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Even though this season often brings to mind death and endings, it’s important to remember that darkness is also a place of creation and potential. All that is born comes from darkness, and in knowing this, we can look at the darkness in a positive light. This spell is designed to help you welcome and understand what the darkness has to offer while providing a sense of hope and excitement for what is to come.

Materials:

  • A jar with a large opening
  • Black paint and a brush
  • A container for mixing paint
  • Biodegradable glitter

Pour a small amount of paint into the container. Stir in the biodegradable glitter, creating what looks like a sparkling night sky. Paint the inside of the jar thoroughly with the black paint, being sure not to leave any cracks where light can get in.

When it’s dry, find a quiet moment to gaze into the dark you’ve created within the jar, and imagine the glitter pieces are all tiny seeds of potential germinating. Throughout the dark months, any time you have a hope or wish, gaze into the jar and visualize your desire, planting seeds in the fertile darkness so that they might sprout and grow.
