Spell: Banishing Candle

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Harnessing the power of Leo and the Sun, this spell is designed to cleanse out any shadowy entities or lingering presences from your home. You will need:

  • A white candle, jar-style or a votive in a holder
  • 7 juniper or red cedar berries (Juniperus virginiana)
  • Mortar and pestle
  • 7 drops juniper essential oil (optional)
  • Matches or lighter

Crush the 7 juniper or red cedar berries in a mortar and pestle, and sprinkle them onto the wax in your candle. You can also sprinkle 7 drops of juniper essential oil onto the wax. While facing your front door (inside), light your candle and say three times:

Light drives out all darkness.

Then make a counterclockwise circle through your entire home (the direction of removal) while holding your candle. End the circle back at your front door. Repeat for a total of three rounds, each time reciting the charm three times before you make your circle. You can then snuff out the candle or leave it lit near the front door. (Don't let it burn unattended. Snuff it out if leaving the home.) Relight the candle at your front door or on your home altar whenever your house is in need of cleansing.
