Color of the day: Red
Incense of the day: Evergreen Around this time of year is celebrated Navrati, the nine-day festival of the Hindu goddesses. You should plan to celebrate Durga the warrior goddess for the first three days, then Lakshmi the prosperity goddess, and finally Sarisvati, the goddess of knowledge and creative arts. Chant each goddess's name. Bow to each in turn, and wear lotus oil and burn incense and pink, red, or lavender candles. These goddesses may be approached to ask for peace, abundance, protection, success, and creativity. Each one may be addressed with the greeting: "Jai Ma." As a devotion, give up meat, alcohol, and tobacco for the nine days of Navrati. |
