Color of the day: Silver
Incense of the day: Sage Thanks to Charles Godfrey Leland and Doreen Valiente, Witches have a lovely piece of sacred writing called "The Charge of the Goddess." The Charge was first recorded in Leland's Aradia: Gospel of the Witches. Valiente was moved by the piece, so she rewrote it with a more Wiccan feel. The Charge is the Goddess speaking directly to a ritual's participants after she has been invoked. While the well-known copies of the Charge are moving, each Witch can and should write her own version to reflect her personal beliefs. Here are some tips to help you write your charge: meditate about on the way the Goddess manifests in nature; your connection to nature; the cycle of life, death, and rebirth; or focus on a specific aspect of her. However, the most important thing to remember when writing a charge is to write from your soul, where the Goddess lives. |
