Incense of the day: Gardenia Since this is the last Wednesday of the year, it is a good day to communicate to the divine what you wish for during the coming year. Perform this spell at sunrise on the Wednesday closest to the New Year. Light a yellow candle and call upon Mercury, messenger of the gods. Write your wishes in the form of affirmations on clean white paper. This may be in the form of a spell, prayer, or letter. After you write the spell, cut a pomegranate and sprinkle some of the seeds onto the paper. Fold the paper as you would a letter. Place it into an envelope and seal with some of the juice from the pomegranate. Speak a prayer of thanks over the burning candle before extinguishing it. Save the letter until the wishes manifest. The custom is to save your wish list until the following year; review to see what happened to your wishes before burning it in a ritual fire. |
