Spell: Buy Local Enchantment

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

In Japan, February 16 is Fumi-e, a day when people demonstrate their nonattachment to Western imports. Borrowing from the Japanese tradition, use the spirit of the day to celebrate the vitality of your local economy, practicing your nonattachment to imports. Enchantment comes from the French word enchanter, meaning to cast a spell over, to bewitch, to attract and delight. Traditionally, an enchantment was performed by the recitation of rhythmic or rhyming words that were chanted, whispered, or sung. The vibration of the words and music affects whoever hears them, producing an enchantment. Take time today to shop in small family-owned businesses, patronize local artisans, lunch from fresh local foods or make something from scratch.
Chant or sing:
Buy it local, shop close to home,
Buy from farmers that you know, Support your community, Stand in unity,
Seek what locals make and grow.

Buying local works great magic, affecting many.
