Spell: A New Moon Meditation

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

The New Moon of November begins a period of transition and introspection. The harvest ends, and we ready ourselves for winter. Although the natural world seems to be dying, it's only dormant. If you look closely at the bare branches of trees and shrubs, you'll notice the buds containing next season's flower and leaf have already been formed.
This phase of dormancy shouldn't be mistaken for stagnation. During this New Moon, the Life Force slumbers in the womb of Mother Earth. This should be a time of evaluation and renewal. With the Sun in Scorpio, meditation can be very useful now; here is one example.
You'll need:

- one brown candle

- one white candle

- the Four of Swords card from the tarot

In silence, light the candles. The brown candle represents the sleeping, but fertile, Mother Earth. The white candle symbolizes the Divine Spirit, which may be unseen but is always present. Place the Four of Swords card between the candles. This represents a period of contemplation. Sit quietly before the candles until you feel a connection to both Earth and Spirit. Think of a goal you wish to accomplish. As the Moon grows in power, take steps to achieve your goal.
