| Sirius, the dog star, is most easily seen this time of year, which led the ancients to believe he was the cause of the hot, sultry weather often experienced from July 24 to August 24(in the Northern Hemisphere).
During these dog days, we are encouraged to remember our canine companions and pets in general. Remember to keep lots of water available. Do not leave pets outside too long, and never ever leave a pet in a car, even with the windows cracked. For those who have no pets, please consider making a donation or money or supplies to a local pet shelter or animal rescue organization. Take a few moments before you retire this night to send out good and positive energy for all the creatures of the earth. |
