Spell: Candle Care

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Today is the last day of Hanukkah. Yule is upon us, and Christmas is just days away. Holiday celebrations for these and all religions and belief systems have one thing in common: the lighting of candles.

Candle magic is very dear to me. Practiced by the novice as well as the expert, it is part of every complicated ritual, yet it is as easy as lighting a candle and saying a blessing. Every candle lit by everyone the world over is a bit of magic, even if all it does is bring light. After all, what is more wonderful than bringing light to the dark?

Take some time to care for your candle collection. Trim wicks, clean out votive cups and candleholders, and replenish your stock. While doing so, remember to light a candle to bless your efforts:

"Candles, ancient and revered light of the world,
In all forms and colors,
For every season and reason,
Bring blessings upon me and my home."
