Spell: Brigid Invocation

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

The pre-Christian Irish goddess Brigid ( pronounced "breed") is guardian of the home and known for her intellect, wisdom, and craft skills. She is also a protectress of sacred flame-literally and metaphorically. The long, cold nights of January find many of us seeking ways to keep warm. An appeal to Brigid can protect us through those chilly nights.

Sit in a dark room and light a single candle. Sit quietly, experiencing the darkness. Focus on the flame, scrying for any meanings that come. Repeat:

"Dearest Brigid, keeper of hearth and home,
protectress of all, font of love and wisdom,
Be with me through this long night.
Bless me as I sleep through winter's cold embrace.
Nurture my inner fire, sustaining life and filling me with warmth.
Give me the hope that spring will return, and with it
A promise of light and warmth.
To this I appeal. So mote it be."
