Spell: Spring Clearing

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Many of us engage in the annual ritual known as spring cleaning. Add a little zing to your cleaning with magical techniques that go beyond soap and water.

Working with a new broom, move deosil (sunwise) through your home and through each room, sweeping out both dust (bury this outdoors) and spiritual detritus.

Bind together stems of lavender, rosemary, and/or hyssop. Dissolve a bit of sea salt in spring water. Dip your stem “wand” into the water and asperge (sprinkle) your rooms for magical cleansing.

Anoint candles with olive or frankincense oil and leave them to burn safely in each cleansed room. If you prefer, smudge the room with sage or juniper (but beware, your smoke alarm might go off!).

Hang small bells in each room and let the moving air catch them. Say:

Cleansing now, for seasons’ turn,
Herbals pure and candles burn.
Wand of water, small bells ring,
Rising spirits soon to sing!
