This day before Independence Day in the US is also the Feast of Cerridwen in the Celtic neo-Pagan calendar. Cerridwen is the Cymri (Welsh) goddess of wisdom, sorcery, transformation, and rebirth. She possesses a sacred cauldron of Awen, or poetic inspiration. Outdoors, carefully light a sparkler, which represents the flame beneath Cerridwen's magickal cauldron. Trace the burning sparkler in a triquetra shape, starting in the middle, while chanting: Flame of Cerridwen, light my way, Bring me knowledge every day. Flame of Cerridwen, Awen bright, Bring me wisdom every night. When the spell is completed, carefully extinguish the sparkler or place it in a safe container until it has burned out. |
