Color of the day: Pink
Incense of the day: Sandalwood The theme of this month is the remembrance of elders, community, stability, and wisdom. Honor an elderly friend or family member by utilizing the gifts of the elder tree as a tribute to the elder Moon. Elder flowers (Sambucus nigra) ease depression and are a relaxant and treatment for puffy eyes and rheumatism. Steep one cup of elder flowers in four cups of water. Dip two cotton squares in the elder tea, put them in a bowl, and place the bowl in the freezer. Strain one cup of the infusion and set it aside. Pour the remaining tea and flowers into a basin. Have your elder put his or her feet up, relaxing and drinking the tea with a bit of honey and lemon. Test the temperature of the elder infusion in the basin, and when it is not too hot add one teaspoon of lavender flowers. Have your elder place his or her feet into the floral infusion, then put cotton squares on his or her eyes. Let him or her relax as long as he or she would like, then gently towel-dry his or her feet and offer a pair of comfortable slippers. |
