In ancient Rome, the festival of Feralia was celebrated on this day to honor the dead. Take the time today to remember your beloved dead. Look through old photo albums. Watch old home movies. Visit the cemetery where they are buried. Bring them flowers and honor their mark in the world and in your life. Speak their names and send them messages and prayers. Set out a plate and leave offerings to them. Give gratitude for your ancestors of blood and of spirit that guide your path. Send prayers to the earth that holds their bodies just as it will receive yours. Remember that you, too, will become an ancestor soon. What is remembered, lives.
Beloved ones beyond the veil, I honor your life, I honor your love. Accept these offerings as tokens of gratitude and love. Thank you for your protection and guidance. You are gone, but not forgotten. Blessed be. |
