Spell: The Quickening of the Year

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

By the time February arrives, many people are tired of the cold. Though springtime and warmer days are ahead, it might not feel that way. We can help things along with some sympathetic magic. For this spell, you’ll need a pot, some ice cubes, a stove, and some rosemary. Rosemary is aligned with the sun and has naturally cleansing properties.

For the spell, fill a small pot halfway with ice, setting it on a cold stove. Hold either a fresh sprig or two tablespoons of dried rosemary in your hands, mentally pouring your vision of springtime warmth into the herb. Turn on the stove. As the ice begins melting, toss the herb into the pot, saying:

Hurry forth without delay, quicken
the shifting from the cold.

Winter’s power shall not stay, warmth
in balance shall now take hold.

The resulting tea can be strained, sweetened, and consumed to bring some warmth within.
