Today is the start of Daylight Saving Time, which sometimes throws me off for weeks. In order to lessen the exhaustion and disorientation of “springing forward,” try the following. Upon awakening, take a few extra minutes in bed. Say: Today I look forward to _____. Then list all the things you look forward to in the coming day (even if one of them is “going back to bed tonight”). In the evening, before bedtime, do the legs-up-the-wall pose from yoga, where you place your legs upright against the wall, or drape your knees over a chair seat, with your back flat on the floor, for twenty minutes. In the pose, say: Today I enjoyed _____. Then make a list of all the good things in your day. Do this variation on gratitude practice each morning and night for one week, starting today. Continue if you wish. |
