In the mountains of Greek Macedonia, this day was set aside for honoring village midwives with gifts of practical tools such as towels and soap, but also wine and food. This event was also celebrated with a festive meal and a parade. Find a way to show appreciation for someone who has helped you "deliver," whether a midwife, doctor, nurse, or a friend. This does not need to be related specifically to childbirth. If you are expecting a child, working on any kind of creative project (which is another way of "giving birth"), or going through an adoption of a child or pet, use this spell to help facilitate the process. Light a green or white candle and speak these words:
Midwives all, hear my plea, Assist my efforts faithfully. May what I bring to fruit be well, To grow in love, I cast this spell. |
