We often think of compassion for others as important, but rarely do we consider the personal application of it. Finding compassion for oneself is the key to feeling it for others in a healthy and healing way.
This meditation will assist you in finding your own inner understanding and forgiveness while opening you to receive the same from those around you. Sit in a comfortable position with feet flat on the floor, back straight, and eyes closed. Set a timer for at least five mintues or up to fifteen if you are able. Close your eyes and breathe deeply three times from your diaphragm to the top of your lungs to cleanse the air in your body. Next, while you breathe in, mentally repeat the following: "I love myself. I forgive all I have done." On the exhale, say: "Forgiveness heals me. Love fills me up." Continue until the time runs out. |
