Today, choose to limit your media exposure. Try it for one day. Be mindful of what information you consume. Avoid "junk food" messages and fearmongering. Leave the radio off, bypass the newspaper stand or e-news, and avoid looking at the television, Internet newsfeeds, and Facebook (where so many people repost stories and pictures filled with drama and trauma). Do this just for today. Tonight, evaluate your energy. Do you feel less anxiety, fear, and dread? Good. Now contemplate extending your choice. The less outside messaging we consume, the more our own true voice will be heard. |
