Spell: Honoring the Fool Within

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

All Fools’ Day (or April Fools’ Day) has a reputation for being a day of pranks and practical jokes— which means you should probably double-check the publication date of that too-good article you just saw on the internet. But what if on this day we embraced the energy of the Fool from the Major Arcana instead— while also viewing this card in a new light? Rather than seeing the Fool as a figure about to step off a cliff, consider that they’re stepping down from the heavens to the top of a mountain, beginning their exciting journey down into the world. This shift can help us change our own perspective when facing both difficulties and opportunities.

Pull the Fool card out from your Tarot deck and place it upon your altar for meditation. To represent the tools of the Minor Arcana, collect:

• A stick of incense (for wands)
• A candle (for swords)
• A glass of water (for cups)
• A salt or a spice (for pentacles)

Now recognize each with these words:
I breathe the aroma of life.
(Light the incense.)
I am guided by the light within me.
(Light the candle.)
May I always be refreshed.
(Drink the water.)
May my life be rich and flavorful.
(Taste the salt or spice.)
