Dedicate this day to bonds of love. Traditionally the Roman Lemuralia was the occasion when malevolent spirits were exorcised from the home with the sprinkling of black beans and banging of pots. But the ghosts of the dearly departed were also said to walk amoung the living, so now is your opportunity to reconnect with expressions of healing, hope, compassion, forgiveness, gratitude, and then release.
To honor a shared spirit of love this day, take a handful of white beans and place them on a red cloth. Utter the following as you turn each bean over: "White bean, ghost of days gone by, love once held in arms; take this gift of mine today, a token and a charm." Finally, tie up the little bundle and bury it. Your loves both near and far will have peace. |
