It’s Earth Day, so let’s practice earthing, or grounding—attuning our energy with that of the earth. Stress, pollution, illness, and negativity can create free radicals: molecules that have lost one or more electrons. Free radicals can induce oxidative stress, which can lead to diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and multiple sclerosis. Good ions are oxygen atoms with extra negatively-charged electrons. Abundant in nature, they’re present in the earth, beach, mountains, and water. Negative ions neutralize free radicals, promote healing, and balance the autonomic nervous system. The earth has the capacity to restore health and balance in the human body. Today, go outside and sit where you can place your bare feet on the ground. Sit quietly for half an hour. Be aware of the subtle shift in your energy as your body attunes to the resonant energy of the earth. You are now grounded. |
